Evolution of visuals in racing games 1992-2014
I still remember when I first saw Geoff Crammond - MicroProse's Formula One Grand Prix. It was mindblowing!! 3D graphics, amazing gameplay... Best racing experience I had so far...
One of my best friends had a 386 PC that met the ultra-high-end requirements the game needed (DOS, 1 MB of Ram and VGA Graphics Card). Every time I had the chance to drop by his house, first thing we did was to play this game.
But things have changed quite a lot in this time. Comparing the Monaco environment from that game with the one from CodeMasters F1 2013 makes a hell of a difference...
And things still keep moving forward. This year, we will have a new F1 2014 game, and some others that keep pushing the limits of visual realism in videogames: [All videos best viewed in FullHD 1080p]

Simax F1 Simulator
Today, we have released an introductory video of the next challenge we are facing here at Simax: take our technology to the F1 racing field.
In this case, we are developing a replica of the Renault R30: a 2.4L V8 engine which reaches 19.000 rpm and almost 900 hp, for less than 600 Kg… Awesome!
Hope you like it…
A Porshce 911 S at the Simax Simulator
Today, we have released a couple of videos of a lap to the Circuit of Navarra, with a Porsche 911 S in the Simax Simulator. You can check them out at YouTube (FullHD 1080p recommended):
Autonomous car driving by V.A.I.L
Autoblog has published today a very interesting video on autonomous driving. It surely worth the time you´ll invest watching it…
During the first seconds, you can see some Java code. It appears there because that’s the “yesterday” part of the video. I´m sure that they were just about putting some .Net code in the “tomorrow” chapter. They probably run out of time… ;)
Specially beautiful the close look at the accelerating wheel, at the end of the video.
Hope you enjoy it.
The 2009 Ford Fiesta AssaultCraft, by TopGear
